Bottled Water Will Kill Us All
| Annual sales of bottled water is approximately one hundred billion dollars ($100,000,000,000). Yet it’s just water. Look around you. There’s water everywhere. A hundred billion for something that’s plentiful and practically free?
Sure, it’s “pure” and “clean” and “healthy.” Every bit as pure, clean and healthy as common tap water – especially after you run it through an inexpensive charcoal filter. Water bottles are made out of plastic. About three billion (3,000,000,000) pounds each year. Plastic is non-biodegradeable. It is litter on our roads that never dissolves. It wastefully fills our landfills. It kills countless birds and marine life. Less than twenty percent (20%) of it is recycled. Plastic is made out of oil. Nearly 50 million gallons of oil each year. Reducing bottled water demands would reduce oil demands and reduce gas prices. Plastic bottles are manufactured and transported, both of which contribute to a huge and unnecessary carbon footprint. The cost of manufacturing and transporting bottled water makes it nearly three (3) times more expensive than gasoline, and a thousand (1,000) times more expensive than tap water! Bottled water is a filthy, wasteful, and expensive industry that provides nothing better than filtered tap water. Buy a carbon water filter and a metal thermos if you care about the environment, the economy, and yourself. |
