Cat Breeds by Intelligence
Animal Planet has seen fit to categorize cat intelligence by breed. Of course, this is at best an unscientific assessment. Within every breed there are smart and stupid cats. And until they learn to take an IQ test, cats will always be judged by Human standards – extremely subjective and anthropomorphic standards, at that.
At least Animal Planet has allowed for grey areas by coming up with several categories of cat smarts. This way a Manx, for instance, can be compared favorably to an Abyssinian, while both rank higher than a Persian and of course lower than a Sphynx, the seemingly undisputed smartest cat breed. Here is Animal Planet’s list of Cat Breeds by Intelligence…

Don’t see you’re Tabby on the list? That’s because Tabby, Calico, Tortoise Shell, etc. are color patterns found in many breeds, just as Polydactilism is a physical anomaly found in many breeds.

You know what? Just cuz u dont agree with something doesnt means its stupid. And if you call humans stupid well u r human arent u? Besides you just got one single smart cat that doesnt mean the whole breed is smart. Maybe because of your sample error and u asuming the entire breed is the same way maybe you are the dumb one. To test a breed successfully you must have like 100 samples so when u go out and buy 100 cats then maybe your opinion might matter. And siamese arent dumb. Just ask around. And oh yeah for those of you who are about to say that I cant type or my grammer is wrong dont bother. Cuz dont you have a life to get back to?
I don’t agree with this at all. My exotic shorthair looks at bit daft but she’s quite intelligent, especially when it comes to the mirror test. You can’t test a cat by its breed. It’s like with you humans – there are bright ones, a daft ones.
You don’t know what a smart cat is until you’ve (been owned by) a Norwegian Forrest Cat. We have had lots of ‘em, Siamese being the absolute dumbest animal I have ever seen.

I agree, Nataly, that any cat can be particularly smart within its breed, and some factors of cat intelligence depend on how well they are raised and trained. Maine Coons are of average intelligence to begin with, so with the attention you give to yours, it could be very smart indeed!
I don’t agree with that list. My lovely Maine Coon is very smart, but not “At Least Can Find Their Way Home”! And traing of that breed is similar to dog training… That mean – cat is very smart!
