Charles Olivier – Simply Extraordinary

… or, Promoting the Self-Promotion of One of Our Own …

Websites are a great equalizer as far as advertising media goes. Once upon a time, it took big bucks and rare skills to make TV and radio commercials, newspaper and magazine print ads, and billboards and the like. When the Internet came into popular use, global self-promotion became available to everyone from God all the way down to and including Gilbert Gottfried.

For those of you who don’t remember, the early website boom of the 1980′s involved pretty static pages. Animated GIFs and blinking text were often the only movement you saw. Music (never with vocals) came in the form of MIDI files, which played only as well as your sound card – if your computer even had a sound card.

Charles Olivier - Simply Extraordinary

Today we have Flash and Java and embedded video and streaming MP3 and CSS and PHP and a host of other effects that sound like refugees from your alphabet soup. But the song remains the same: self-promotion.

Which brings me (and hopefully you) to CharlesOlivier.host56.com – the new website of Charles Olivier. Charles is a brilliant young artist, an illustrator and animator, and a really decent guy. Oh, and he’s a major contributor to SnarlyBoodle.com.

His website – created by him – has a clean and simple layout that lets your eyes find the important stuff very fast. The touches of Flash are subtle and purely functional. The multimedia portfolio includes Quicktime movies of some of Charles’ commercial animations, as well as book illustrations and a photo series Charles did for a client in Mexico. Check out the News link for additional artwork by Charles. His trained styles are varied and quite often whimsical.

Charles Olivier is from France, and worked his way to Vancouver, Canada, by way of Mexico. I happen to know first-hand that his work ethic is impeccable. A client would enjoy 1) his intuitive comprehension of the project, 2) his creative input, 3) his dedication and speed, and 4) his personal charm.

As for his website being part of the great equalizing of self-promotion, I believe Charles transcends the norm. He expertly showcases just some of the rare skills required to stand out from today’s huge crowd of self-promoters. If you need help standing out, you would do well to contact Charles for his outstanding abilities.
