Donate By Clicking for a Good Cause

“Pay-per-click” refers to a system whereby an advertiser pays a website based on how many times the advertiser’s ad is clicked by visitors to the website. This is a very fair way of doing business, as the advertiser gets something tangible for each paid click.

In a world where advertising media is so expensive and so potentially ineffective, pay-per-click gives a measurable response to the advertiser while bringing the clicker to their site and improving the chances of making a sale.

There are many not-for-profit websites that rely on such a system to generate income for their cause. Simple versions can be found at TheAnimalRescueSite.com, TheHungerSite.com/, and Children.Care2.com/. One click earns a donation to the cause, and you are taken to a page with further links if you care to explore.

FreeRice.com turns this pay-per-click notion into a game. Sponsoring World Hunger Relief, the site presents a quiz from various subjects of your choice. Each correct answer (involving a click) adds 10 grains of donated rice to the cause. Not to penalize the cause, an incorrect answer just gets you another question (the incorrectly answered question comes up again later in an attempt to teach you). Meanwhile, each click generates a new ad on the page.

Following in the creative footsteps of FreeRice.com is Charitii.com, which donates to the charity of your choice (from their list) for each correct crossword puzzle answer you give.

TheNonProfits.com is a large directory of donate-by-clicking websites. Why not bookmark this page – or at least a few of your favorite causes – and pay a brief visit to them each day. It costs you nothing but a few seconds, and you personally help move money from the sponsors to the cause.
