Can My Repo Man Get Jeep Parts from China?

I just bought a 2006 Jeep Liberty from the local repo man. Cheap. Great deals can be found at repo yards. They’re just middlemen trying to recover what’s legally owed from deadbeats who have the nerve to drive around in cars without making their monthly payments.

Of course these poor souls probably lost their jobs and homes and are living in these cars, but we can practice the time-honored American tradition of blaming the last Administration – even if they are to blame.

But really, the repo deals can be real sweet. Say the original owner put a big down payment on the car, then made all his payments for the next three years. The repo guy sells the car for the balance owed plus a few hundred for his trouble, and I get a relatively new car for thousands of dollars off current value.

It’s an “as is” sale, but our local repo men give each car a great once-over and publish the true condition. They even offer a free 2-month warranty! You pretty much know what you’re getting.

So now I have this great new used car, but it’s made by Chrysler. Yeah, the company that just filed for bankruptcy. The company that’s closing down hundreds of North American plants and opening their new plants in China.

Where will I get parts and accessories? I know – my favorite online shopping stop, Amazon.com.

I’ll even share the experience with you. You can use the following widget to identify your car and see all the appropriate accessories carried through Amazon. Give it a whirl…

I just plugged in 2006 – Jeep – Liberty and then clicked through to a page with more than one thousand six hundred authentic parts and accessories specific to my car. Not too shabby.
