Simple Card Counting

What does card counting have to do with scams? Well, the casinos are running a scam on the public by propagating the myth that card counting is illegal. They may threaten to expel blatantly successful card counters from their premises, but they have lost in the courts when trying to do so.

Black, Jack

Black, Jack

They don’t do this very often, anyway. They welcome people to come in and try to beat them at their own game. It’s how they make billions of dollars each year.

Of course, using electronic devises is illegal, as it’s an unfair advantage over other members of the public. But keeping a simple count in your head is in no way against the law.

Card counting is pretty easy, and it indicates the probability of a high card being dealt. It doesn’t promise anything, and if you stick to the simplest form of card counting, you’ll have the most success with it, all things considered.

Blackjack is the most common game in which card counting may help a player. You keep a running number in your head, and this number will give you a hint at how to play your hand. Some players who don’t count but who have a good instinct for the game are actually counting on a subliminal level.

In the basic “Hi-Lo” counting system, you merely keep track of a single running number. Start with Zero. For every 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 you see dealt, add One. For every 10, Jack, Queen, King or Ace you see dealt, subtract One. The higher the number, the more likely you’ll see a high card drawn next.

Easy Peasy. Play accordingly, bet accordingly, and you may do a little better than usual over the long haul.

It’s the best you can hope for in a casino.
