There’s Gotta be More to Life
I recently made a comment to Burt Stark, curator of the celebrated ToiletMuseum.com, that I was tired of not being rich. He sagely pointed out something to the effect that I should “get over it” and just chill at doing things I like to do. Since maintaining the status quo has the shortest learning curve, I’m all for that.
Lucky for me, I like to do things that don’t cost a lot of money. I like to help people, especially those in the Arts or small – very small – businesses. Artists, creative thinkers, entrepreneurs… the first people to ask for government funding and the last to receive it. I guess my favorite pet is the underdog. I also like researching, writing and editing, making little videos, and designing websites. But far and away my favorite thing to do is rail against the injustices in the world, no matter how small they may seem.
So I gathered a few like-tempered friends and we came up with this blog site. We think it taps into the basic Human biological need for something more, something better; the very thing that – at the core – prompted my comments to Mr. Stark. As Bruce Springsteen once wrote, paraphrasing a Danish proverb: “Poor man wanna be rich; rich man wanna be king; and a king ain’t satisfied till he rules everything.” It’s in the Human genome, I swear.
On this site we’ll shine a light into the eyes of the greedy, the abusive, the elitists, and the stupid. We’ll offer up information that may have escaped mass media, and make suggestions about making things better. We’ll sometimes state the obvious, and even show you what other snarly boodle are saying. We’ll tell you things that may shock you, scare you, sicken you, and hopefully spur you into action. We’ll ask for your suggestions and comments, and research your ideas.
Most of all, we’ll try to make you laugh, because too often that’s our only recourse against the madness in our world.
My role in this effort will be technical, for the most part. Web stuff, editing, soliciting new writers, and writing my own weekly blog eviscerating political correctness and social inequities. Stuff I like to do. So thanks, Burt; I needed this.
