Cheating is a scam on your friends and loved ones, your competitors, and yourself. Cheaters usually convince themselves that they are justified in their actions. “Everybody does it,” “I need to make up unfairly lost ground,” “Just this once is okay,” etc.

When they hear the word “cheat,” people in shaky relationships think of infidelity. Students think of cheating on tests. Weight watchers think of cheating on their diets. The money-conscious think of cheating on their taxes. Gamers think in terms of cheat codes.
